Are you Aimlessly Practising?

Are you aimlessly practicing in a way that isn’t getting results?

Do you find yourself singing through meaningless warm-ups and repertoire without making any changes or correcting any moments of vocal tension or strain?

Today is a great day to learn a new practise method that will help you find optimal results, in the shortest amount of time. Most of us don’t have a great deal of free time. With our busy lives, we need to make our practice sessions work efficiently.

GET YOUR CAMERA READY

My tip for an effective practise method is to watch yourself by FILMING  in practise.  This method allows you to observe your physical approach to singing. Pick one practice session per week and film yourself for a fast and fabulous way to progress. By observing ourselves we can focus on the external part of our technique.

HOW DOES IT HELP?

Once you get used to looking at yourself, you can see your singing posture, check on your neck alignment, observe your jaw in motion, and monitor your tongue tension.

FINDING SOLUTIONS

Once you see these technique issues, you can also begin to come up with solutions. Remind yourself that every “error” you see when practicing, has a solution. Once you’ve filmed yourself, make a list of the technical items to conquer and bring it to your next singing lesson. Together, we can pinpoint the technical issues that are holding you back towards optimal performance.

Pick up a tripod- and get singing!
